Trixi Barranco Schnitzler, MA, OT, RMT, got her bachelor's in Music from Conservatorio Superior de Música del Liceo, her bachelor's in Occupational Therapy from Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona and her master's degree in Music Therapy at Universidad Ramón Llull, all of them in Barcelona (Spain). After that, and knowing that she wanted to become a professional music therapist, she completed a 9-month clinical training at University Hospitals of Cleveland. Making the decision whether to stay in the States or returning to Barcelona wasn't easy, but she finally decided she should take back her attained knowledge and "spread the word" in Spain.

It was in May 2000 when she opened, together with a colleague, the first private practice in Catalunya entirely dedicated to Music Therapy treatment and teaching: "Centro de Musicoterapia de Barcelona". (If you would like to know more: http://home2.worldonline.es/cmtbcmtb) The outcomes have been highly successful since then, and Trixi is now working in different fields: Oncology (adults and children), Chronic Insomnia, Upper Extremities Rehab, ICU, Mental Health, Dance Therapy, teaching and counselling. She is also finishing her master's in Psychology at Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia-UNED (Madrid, Spain) and translating Music Therapy and Occupational Therapy articles and documents into Spanish (Trixi is fluent in Spanish, Catalan, German, English, French and Italian).
Internship: September 1998-July 1999.

Trixi's Project:
"Individualized Music Therapy for Chronic Insomnia."
