About the Internship Program

The internship program is unique in that it offers the opportunity to work in several distinct areas of the hospital:

• Oncology patients at the Ireland Cancer Center
• Medical/Surgical Patients and Intensive Care Units
• Intensive Outpatient Program (Mood Disorders)
• High- Risk Pregnancy patients at MacDonald Hospital for Women
• Rehabilitation patients at Hanna House

The internship is structured to meet the individual interests and needs of the intern, with opportunities to collaborate with occupational and physical therapy, speech, respiratory, art therapy and pain management teams. The potential for research is varied and encouraged. There are numerous occasions for in-services, community outreach, addressing and interacting with support groups, and initiating music therapy in new areas of the hospital (labor and delivery, EEG labs, AIDS Unit, Breast Center, Orthopedics, anesthesia, etc.
