Wiley Smith is a music therapy intern at UHCMC. A native of North Carolina, he studied at the University of North Carolina where he received his Bachelor’s of Music in Composition and Music Education and his Master of Arts in Teaching. UNC conferred Wiley his Bachelor’s degree with Highest Distinction for academic achievement, as well as Highest Honors for his thesis composition, Home Songs. He was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa academic honor society his junior year. Wiley was a proud member of the Carolina Choir, the UNC Men’s Glee Club, and the orchestra and wind ensemble, where he played tuba.
Wiley moved to Cleveland to work with L’Arche, a faith-based community centered on people with disabilities. He recently completed a post-baccalaureate equivalency program in music therapy at Cleveland State University, where he played in the orchestra and wind ensemble.
Wiley is thrilled to be a part of the music therapy team at University Hospitals, and is eager to continue to develop his musical and clinical skills in the diverse treatment settings at Case Medical Center.
